EVENING ENTERTAINMENT
We are proud to present three exciting evening entertainment programs:
An Evening with Guy McLean - Thursday night 20th Nov
For the first time Equitana will be presenting “An Evening with Guy McLean” where world class education and entertainment go hand in hand to make an unforgettable event.
Guy McLean shares his love of horses by performing at shows, festivals and corporate events all across the world showcasing his and his horse’s ability in front of crowds of up to and over 20,000 people for the past 12 years. Guy was also named two-time Australian Bush Poetry Champion during this time and Official Ambassador of the Outback.
At the “Evening with Guy McLean”, Guy will demonstrate another Equitana first, whereby he will start an unridden young horse in an open arena displaying the trust and obedience gained on a horse’s first ride. Starting a young horse in an open arena simulates how Guy starts his performance horses and enables him to build a strong and lasting bond between him and his horses. In 2005, Guy won the first Australian Horsemanship Challenge “the Way of the Horse” at Equitana. Guy will once again show you step by step how he starts young horses on their first ride. During this segment he will provide a full explanation on his methods and reasons for the way he trains his horses.
Be there to be inspired and experience an evening of horsemanship, starting at the beginning where Guy will start a young horse, to the height of horsemanship with his four finished performance horses mixed with whip cracking, award winning bush poetry and visual and sound effects.
Western Spectacular - Friday night 21st Nov
A night of western sports featuring reining, barrel racing, saddle bronc, bareback and bull riders, combined with a variety of musical and comedy entertainment. Australia’s top professional rodeo athletes will be extended an invitation to compete at this amazing action packed event.
EQUITANA AP is privileged to have Garry McPhee as one of the producers of the Western Spectacular. Garry has had a long and illustrious career in the world of equine sports, his rodeo achievements far outweighing his other successes, competing in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the States since 1965. Winning many titles, including the APRA All-Round Champion four times and the Australian Bull Riding Champion three times just to name a few. Garry is Australia’s premier stock contractor, breeding, training and providing elite bucking stock athletes for rodeos and other western events.
The evening will be interspersed with fantastic entertainment including a performance from a country singer Shea Fisher. The 20-year-old rodeo star turned singer-songwriter released her fist album Everyday Girl last year.
Get ready for the best Western entertainment that combines action, music and comedy in one go.
Dressage Spectacular - Saturday night 22nd November
EQUITANA is proud to host Pacific League World Cup Dressage in an evening of superb dressage. For the very first time at EQUITANA, witness the outstanding performances by the top dressage riders when they choreograph the most beautiful equestrian art to their choice of music.
The Dressage Spectacular will also include an unforgettable performance of the EQUITANA Symphony with live music by William Barton (didgeridoo) and Chris Latham (violin). Chris and William previously played together at the Prelude to the Dawn Service at the 90th Anniversary at Gallipoli in 2005.
The music has been especially composed by Elena Kats-Chernin, who has earned high praise for her many musical achievements. Elena's notable career highlights include a collaboration with leading Australian choreographer Meryl Tankard, in a series of large-scale dance works including Deep Sea Dreaming, which was broadcast to an audience of millions of people worldwide, as part of the opening ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
This is one of the most anticipated dressage competition of the year together with special musical acts.
