EQUITANA Melbourne 2010 are proud to have the Riding for the Disabled Association as their official charity. The work that this Association undertake has such a dramatic effect on the lives of so many, and in order to coincide with the Volunteer Australia's National Volunteer Week they are launching a dedicated Grey Nomad Volunteer Program called the "Silver Brumbies".
For those who are as yet unaware of the work that the Riding for the Disabled Association of Australia do, they are a voluntary, non-profit organisation which provides the opportunity for fantastic horse related activities to anyone with a disability. They have bought joy and stimulation to many individuals and families across Australia.
The RDA Silver Brumbies are actually two grey nomads named Joan and Bob Lemmon. These two individuals are currently travelling around the country sharing their skills and experience with local RDA Centres. Along with volunteering their time and experience (which is invaluable to Associations such as the Riding for the Disabled), they are also helping raise awareness and much needed funds through their travels for the Association. They will also be carrying out general maintainance and administrative tasks for local RDA Centres, as well as supporting RDA coaches and other volunteers.
Joan and Bob say that they are "passionate about the RDA and the benefits they bring to families across Australia".
We strongly support the Silver Brumbies and what they are doing with their roaming quest. If you would like to find out more about their journey, then you can hop on their new website www.SilverBrumbies.com.au and find out how you too can play your part in helping the RDA.
