Since 1991 she has been involved with Horse Safety Australia (previously the Association for Horsemanship Safety and Education) as a clinic instructor, providing qualifications for instructors and trail guides across all states in Australia.

Nina has a keen intrest in risk management, and a passion for safe handling of horses.  She was involved in the development and roll out of the Australian Horse Industry Council Code of Practice, HorseSafe, and regularly consults with various groups and agencies on safe horse handling and facilities.

She will be joined by a number of others from Horse Safety Australia during this presentation as well as their special horse: Phony Pony.

She is immediate past president of the Equine Facilitated Mental Health Association, a section of the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association, and international professional association for promoting standards of safety and professionalism in equine assisted activites and therapies.

Her book, Riding into Your Mythic Life: Transformational Adventures with the Horse, brings together the author's forty years of work with horses as a trainer and instructor, her studies in mythology and body based healing modalities, and healing touch for horses and other animals.  Readers are invited to reframe their lives into a larger vision through exercises in myth and horse, allowing for even painful events to contribute to moving ahead in one's life with renewed commitment and enthusiasm.  Her writing has appeared in Practical Horseman, Dressage Today, and other publications.

Some of her equine education achievements include the following.  She is consultant for numerous equine educational reviews at the school, vocational, university and equine industry body levels.

She was instrumental in the introducation of the 'Introductory Coach for EFA/EA.  She is a consultant for several reviews of National Training Packages in both sport and recreation sectors including electives in equestrian, horse riding, coaching and horse care.  She has held positions as Chair and Committee member of several State and National Education Committees for the ongoing education in the horse industry in Australia.

Glenys also knows the business of horses.  For almost forty years, she has owned, contracted/consulted to, and worked in a wide range of equine related businesses.

In addition to 20 years of earthmoving experience, which has taken him around the world, Todd gained knowledge about horses hooves, legs and muscles from his father, a Master Farrier.

Amalgamating deep knowledge, expertise and experience in both fields, Todd founded Equestrian Land Developments, an earthworks company specialising in equestrian arena construction and catering specifically for equestrian earthworks.

The long term goal of Equestrian Land Developments is to fulfill all the earthworks and design requirements of those who have a passion for horses and to provide an all round property development service.  The next step has been taken recently lauching ELD Sheds and Stables.

Her first book on Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue was published by Wiley-Blackwell in 2008.

She is a past member and Logistics Officer for Veterinary Assistance Team-2, and serves as a Major in the US Army Reserves.  She returned in July from a combat tour in Kuwait and Iraq where she served as an Operations/Communications Officer.

She is active in various Horse organisations - especially on disaster preparedness, animal neglect and trailriding/greenspace issues.  Together with her ex-husband, Tomas, she gives training in Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue techniques across the US, using privately owned animals that Rebecca trains for the hands on demonstrations to perform without sedation.  Jointly they have published many critiques, techniques and journal articles on the subject of technical large animal emergency rescue.

...A Complete Guide to Equine Safety.  Jane is also a co-author of Horse Sense - The Guide to Horse Care in Australia and New Zealand (2nd edition).

She has written numerous horse magazine articles and she is also a freelance writer of books, booklets and equine courses on subjects such as riding, nutrition, horse behaviour, horse training and property/pasture management.

Jane holds an MSc (Masters degree) in Equine Studies from The University of Wales (UK) which she completed some years ago before migrating to Australia. This course covered subjects such as horse behaviour, horse nutrition, horse health and diseases, horse anatomy and physiology and horse business management. Jane also undertooks a period of research at the Royal Edinburgh Veterinary School for my thesis on the grazing behaviour of horses. She has taught riding and horse management for 25 years including seven years at Glenormiston College (Melbourne University) to students on Equine Studies courses.

Jane is a member of the Australian Horse Industry Council (AHIC) and a member of the Queensland Horse Council (QHC). She is qualified as an instructor with Horse Safety Australia (see www.ahse.info) and also an executive member of this organisation. Jane was a working group member (representing horses) of AAWS (Australian Animal Welfare Strategy) a government initiative overseen by DAFF (Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food). She was employed by the DPI & F  during the Equine Influenza out break as an Industry Liaison Officer.

Jane teaches (via lesson/workshops) and advises on a variety of subjects including handling and riding instruction, feeding, horse behaviour, float training, clicker training, property/pasture management, horse safety and horse management.

She has a Certificate in Equine Nutrition, and has a special interest in human-horse healing therapies.  She has completed studies in the Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL) and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy through EAGALA.  She is an author of fiction and non-fiction and holistic therapy.  She regularly runs workshops in natural therapies for animals, and self development courses on the nature of the human-animal relationships. 

Joanne has also worked as a high school teacher, a massage therapist and a professional editor.  She lives on acreage in Blackbutt, Queensland, which she shares with her husband, dogs, cats, chickens, random wallabies and rabbits, three cheeky Arabian horses, and foster rescue horses.

She is a Pilates Teacher, and a retired elite competitor in eventing.  She was also a member of the South Australian Olympic Training Squad for 3 years.

She is the author of 'Applied Posture Riding' an exercise program 'Pilates Specific for Horse Riders'.  She sells an online business selling this program as an E-book, a DVD and in clinics.  She also sells posture shoulder braces and lumbar back braces to horse riders.

The writing of her book 'Applied Posture Riding' developed over a few years over her own experience and due to the demand of riders asking the question "How do you stay so still in the saddle especially at the sit trot?"  She was asked this at almost every outing.  She knew she could teach riders to ride well if they were open to thinking out of the saddle.  Her program was already in the making.
