To facilitate the ongoing growth of the event and the well being of the horses the move to the Melbourne Showgrounds is a positive one and the launch of the “EQUITANA PRECINCT” will embrace all things equine.
Following a $108 million redevelopment, the Melbourne Showgrounds has been transformed into a world-class venue combining the creation of new flexible buildings and outdoor spaces with the careful restoration of heritage buildings.

For four days EQUITANA Asia Pacific will be the ultimate paradise for all equine enthusiasts as they immerse themselves in the world of horses.
HOW TO GET TO THE MELBOURNE SHOWGROUNDS
The Melbourne Showgrounds is located in Epsom Road, Ascot Vale, only 15 minutes drive from the city and 15 minutes from the Melbourne International Airport.
- EQUITANA train will leave from Flinders, Southern Cross and North Melbourne railway stations.
- Bus stops are conveniently located on Langs Road and Epsom Road. Bus service number 472 travels between Williamstown and Moonee Ponds via Footscray along Langs Road.
- Tram number 57 leaves Elizabeth Street, Melbourne, and travels along Epsom Road to the Main Gate.
- Ample parking is available at the Flemington Racecourse.
- Road access is 15 minutes from the city via Flemington and Racecourse Roads, or off City Link at Racecourse Road.

EXHIBITION PAVILION
Located on the Epsom Road boundary this large scale contemporary Exhibition Pavilion is a striking feature of the new Melbourne Showgrounds. With access from the Grand Boulevard the Exhibition Pavilion features a flexible raised main entrance opening up to the main exhibition floor. The Exhibition Pavilion offers a space of 15000m2 which once again presents the ultimate “shoppers paradise”.
BATES COMPETITION ARENA
This 85m x 85m grass outdoor arena with seating for 4300 spectators hosts a number of competitions across all equine disciplines, including the new Twilight program.
GRAND PAVILION
Under the big white top, one of the largest tent structures in Australia becomes Equitana Asia Pacific’s impressive indoor competition and entertainment arena of 75m x 35m with a seating capacity for 5000 spectators. This arena houses Dressage Spectacular, Western Spectacular, specialist clinics, world class competitions and the inaugural Equitana Performance Sale.
HORSE HEALTH PAVILION
This pavilion is fully dedicated to all aspects of horse's wellbeing. It hosts exhibitions and presentations put on by the industry’s top veterinarians, dentists, farriers and equine specialists.
BREYER'S EDUCATION SECTOR
This education area features a large classroom which provides an ideal environment for a series of educational presentations. Accessible directly from the Horse Health Pavilion, the classroom will have seats for approximately 150 people.
BREEDERS VILLAGE
A purpose built stable complex that showcases various horse breeds. The village offers the opportunity to compare the differences of each breed under one roof.
