Ideally, when mature, a Miniature Horse should not exceed 34” (8.2hh) at the highest point of the wither and a Small Horse should not exceed 38”. Miniature horses must be identical in characteristics, conformation and proportion to a full sized horse and be free of pony characteristics.
They are not only beautiful to look at – they are also outstanding athletes. Many compete in halter conformation classes and then go on to compete in harness, show jumping, liberty and trail (obstacle) events. There are classes for Miniatures at the Royal Shows and most agricultural shows around Australia.
Miniature horses are rapidly winning the hearts of many people all over Australia and indeed the world. Whether you are after a gorgeous pet or a competitive show horse, the Miniature Horse offers something for everyone.
