Phil Webb
Training
Phil Webb’s maternal grandmother, Phyllis Cottington, trained Thoroughbreds and jumping horses until she was 85 years of age. His paternal grandfather, Billy Webb, was a drover and Phil recalls riding his first horse at around five years of age.
Phil Webb has been training, competing, and judging in the Western equine world for over 45 years. Phil has trained and competed with great success in Cutting, Working Cowhorse and Reining. Phil has been inducted into the National Cutting Horse of Australia Hall of Fame, the Australian Quarter Horse Hall of Fame and the Australian Reined Cowhorse Hall of Fame. Phil spent a number of years in the United States training, competing and gaining invaluable experience. He received his Cutting judge’s card while in the USA.
He has a very long association with Quarter Horses in Australia and is very knowledgeable about breeding and bloodlines. Since 1975 to the present, Phil has stood a Quarter Horse stallion or several stallions each breeding season – over 40 years of breeding the Australian Quarter Horse. He travels overseas regularly to share his knowledge.
