Lauren Woodbridge
Training
I began my journey two decades ago when returned from New Zealand and ended a five year hiatus from horses. We were never a wealthy family so our return to the horse world involved the purchase of 2 unbroken barely handled Welsh X ponies. Pearl and her brother Sonic. As a 10yr old I started Pearl under saddle. Learning to understand her was my basis for learning to understand the world around me. By fourteen years old after completing 8 months and 2600kms of the Bicentennial National Trail I had left school and begun working full time in the horse industry always pushing towards my ultimate goal of becoming a professional horse trainer. At nineteen I began Black Pearl Horses my horse training business and was regularly giving lessons, rescuing and rehabilitating horses and training horses for clients.
By 23yrs old my, now husband, and I had purchased a property together and continued our work in earnest. We have had the honor of touching so many lives through our work everything from creating Pony clubs, running camps, redeveloping rural RDA’s, assisting in massive rescue operations and rehoming over 100 horses just through our own rescue and rehabilitation programs and countless others in assistance with other organisations. Today we have thousands of followers and a solid reputation for the quality of our work and our honesty and integrity is unquestioned. At Equitana 2018 we proved our ability to stand with the best by coming 4th in the Australian Brumby Challenge and wish to continue to strive and improve both ourselves and the relationships between horses and humans.
