Horse Health / Care
I have been around horses all my life, starting out in pony club and with traditional horse training methods. I found that I had many questions that couldn’t be answered in a way that made sense to me, the journey to seek more information started there.
I began teaching riding and groundwork at pony clubs, riding schools, and privately and through that work I met many wonderful people and a lot of unhappy horses. I was also having trouble with one of my horses hooves at the time with him over reaching and tripping. I went looking for information on my horse with the hoof issues and ended up being thrown into the Diploma of equine podiotherapy, with about a weeks notice before the first 5 day practical training block began. It was a massive eye opener to a more holistic way of keeping and caring for horses.
I continued my education studying nutrition, behaviour, bodywork, learning theory, and positive reinforcement training. I now work full time as a hoof care professional, teach online and face-to-face courses in maintenance trimming for horse owners, positive reinforcement training, liberty training, and holistic rehabilitation.
At home, I have a rescue and rehabilitation where I have up to 25 horses in my care at a time. I predominantly take on horses who are unhandled/brumbies, suffer from laminitis and other hoof issues that involve daily maintenance, and those who have had extreme trauma.
I have a thirst for knowledge and am constantly doing professional development so I can better help the horses in my care and those belonging to my clients.

Cooperative Care
We all know the feeling of dread when we have to do health care procedures with our horses that they hate!
This training is relevant to all horse owners. When we give horses the choice to participate in their own health care we make daily care and vet appointments stress free, safe, and enjoyable for all involved.
I want to teach owners how to understand their horses behaviour to prevent situations from becoming unsafe. How to break behaviours down so we can train complex things, even if you only have a few minutes a day to train. We will look at behaviours like safe hoof handling, de worming, vaccinations, eye care, dental checks, how to introduce your horse with stranger danger to the vet, and the all terrifying spray bottle!
Lastly we will look at how to make these procedures safe if we haven’t had time to train them.
